Soft Washing is not one setting pointed at everything. This is what the job actually includes and why each part matters.
- Shingle roofsThose black streaks are algae eating the limestone filler in the shingle. Pressure would strip the granules and void most warranties. Soft washing kills the organism instead.

Why it matters here
South Carolina humidity is the whole problem. Warm, wet air feeds algae, mildew and moss, and they do not just sit on a surface looking bad. Organic growth holds moisture against siding, roofing and wood, and moisture is what actually causes the damage. Around the Pee Dee the shaded north side of a building is usually years ahead of the rest of it.
The reason soft washing exists is that the surfaces most damaged by algae are also the ones most damaged by pressure. Killing the growth rather than blasting it also means it stays gone considerably longer.
